Here in Moab, it's closer to 100. The freezer at The Lazy Lizard Hostel is ancient. Our ice cream liquefied but still made decent root beer floats. Rotary Park on Mill Creek has shade trees and green grass to bring the temperature down a bit. An array of outdoor instruments by FreeNotes makes it even cooler.
Another source of inspiration to carry home with us.

Can we have that in our back yard? We could use bamboo! Better yet-Michelles' yard, so there wouldn't be any shade on the garden. It could be her suprise wedding present. She might not like it though, and then totally be mad. So nevermind. Gohhhd, you guys get to see all the cool stuff.

As you no doubt are aware, Edward Abbey opined that Moab is (like "many such places," he said), "the most beautiful place on Earth." It really does stun you into a reverent silence. I'm glad you guys get to see it, despite its apparent yuppification, which was already being lamented when I was still in Salt Lake, 10 and 15 and 20 years ago. A & I will be there (SLC) again next week-- any chance we can catch you? You know A's #...

That's just what Brad an dI were talking about. Something along the lines of "This place is amazing. The only people who use to see it really had to work for it..." These days, you can take an air conditioned "hummer safari" into the canyons and along the river. I feel myself siding with the cowboys. Who knew?

Heck yeah, we can meetcha at the BYU campus if you like. But you really, really should see SLC itself— I promise you a very interesting tour, with spots left off the usual travel packages. If you must stay south, for reasons best known to yrselves, we can venture down there— Monday is best, Tues is possible (we are trying to save $$ n car rentals) but call us and we’ll work out the specifics— seeing you is more of a priority than economizing.
